I think it was @hypervisible.blacksky.app that said apple watch is an ankle monitor
NEW: The new Apple Watches double as AI-powered listening bugs for generating convo "recaps" or transcripts of any previous 15 seconds. But fear not, Apple says, this data isn't sent to Apple/gets encrypted, speakers aren't ID'd, and there's a chime for the 15-second thing. @lhn.bsky.social reports:

Agreed. I'd like to extend the same logic to those critiquing AI, surveillance or the rise of fascism, while participating in the #luxurysurveillance market via fitness trackers, Nest thermostats, Ring doorbells, and other "smart" home devices and wearables.
Until people in the climate movement very publicly stop eating meat and flying, we're not going to seem trustworthy.

I will die on this hill.
Meat is a blind spot for people who care about climate. When I used to have dinner with my colleague Wally Broecker, the climate scientist who coined the term “global warming”, he would always order a steak.

Part of what I talk about in #LuxurySurveillance is the attempt to make certain kinds of these devices aesthetically pleasing, sleek, unobtrusive. IMHO it removes some of what little stigma remains for covering all available spaces with cameras.
