I love coursework. I hate exams.
I do really well on coursework because I use it as a learning exercise to find out way more things about the subject.
Unless a lecturer has written a really good, challenging exam, it just feels like a memorisation challenge.

We shouldn't mix up the end point of learning with the process of getting to that end point. Children don't develop a wide vocabulary because they've been direct instructed in words. They learn language through conversation and experiences. Focusing everything towards memorisation is a mistake.

This is not unreasonable to think given the trillions of tokens LLMs are trained on, their high capacity for memorisation, the well-documented issues with data contamination of evaluation benchmarks, and the prompt-dependent nature of LLM reasoning.
