A sighting at Mgarr Ix-Xini (Gozo Island) of the rare Maltese "Kuluvert Sriep," a region-specific communal duck that has evolved to move like a snake for purposes of deceiving predators. Our taxi driver went on at length about this species, including what Maltese constellation was the duck snake one

May or may not run a Malta thread. But swam at Mġarr ix-Xini today (sadly over touristed now - was Pitt/Jolie film location “By The Sea”). Classic rock beach day w dad & cousins & kids of cousins. Met old swimming priest who, of course, spent time in Toronto’s little Malta parish.

The Ta' Ħaġrat temple in Mġarr, Malta is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, along with several other Megalithic temples. It is amongst the world's oldest religious sites. This one dates from the Ġgantija phase (3600–3200 BC).

If you are ever in Malta, HARD recommend for Tal-Plitt greengrocer in Mgarr. Come for the mental diacritics written directly on the wall tiles, stay for the *unbelievable* strawberries. The size of plums, with the flavour of jelly babies 😻

Restaurant recommendation time again. If you ever find yourself in Għawdex (or Malta), it-Tmun restaurant at the Mġarr harbour front comes highly recommended by me (and the Michelin guide). There were 11 dishes in total, so can't show them all :)
