Mumbai: In a setback to the crime branch, a special MCOCA court has acquitted four accused and discharged Danish Ahmed — an alleged close associate of Dawood Ibrahim's nephew, Sohail Kaskar — citing serious procedural lapses, defective prosecution sanction, and lack of evidence. The case drew attention because of Ahmed's alleged links to Sohail, son of Dawood's late brother Noora Kaskar, who died in 2010 in Karachi of kidney failure.Last week, special judge Mahesh K Jadhav of the MCOCA court acquitted five alleged members of a syndicate said to be run by Dawood's brother, Anees Ibrahim.

The Delhi High Court has denied bail to AAP leader and former MLA Naresh Balyan in a case registered under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). Balyan has been in judicial custody since his arrest in December 2024.

A single-judge Bench of Justice Manoj Jain, who had reserved the verdict last week, declined to grant bail to the former Uttam Nagar legislator. Balyan has challenged the trial court's order refusing him bail in the organised crime case registered by the Delhi Police Crime Branch under the MCOCA. The former AAP MLA was rearrested by the Crime Branch in December 2024 under the MCOCA, minutes after securing relief in an extortion case.

New Delhi, July 8 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Delhi High Court has granted regular bail to advocate B. Mohanraj, an accused in the Rs 200 crore extortion case allegedly orchestrated by alleged conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar, holding that his continued incarceration as an undertrial was unwarranted despite the stringent bail restrictions under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). Allowing the bail plea, a single-judge Bench Justice Prateek Jalan observed that Mohanraj had spent nearly four years and 10 months in custody, while the trial involving 24 accused, 403 prosecution witnesses and chargesheets running into more than 10,000 pages was unlikely to conclude within a reasonable time.

Balyan was produced before the court on expiry of his one-day judicial custody in the case.

This charge sheet includes the names of 26 accused and 3 absconding accused, which include Shubham Lonkar, Zishan Akhtar and Anmol Bishnoi. According to the police investigation in the Baba Siddiqui murder case, there are three main reasons for the murder.
