Migration is a normal state of affairs across all times and places (wiki says the mediomatrici were gauls)

I know #DnD players are all about the treasure chests, but for much of human history, baskets and jars were the default for storing household possessions, including money.

Archeologists discovered over 40,000 Roman-era #coins in a French village. The coins were found in three ceramic storage vessels that were buried between 1,700 and 1,800 years ago.

This #Celtic tribe lived in and around northern France during the Gallic Wars.

Sorry, I haven’t yet told you all of me.

Yes, I am an unapologetic Celtophile, and that has a very simple explanation:

I have Celtic roots that trace back to the Mediomatrici, the Gaulish people of the region around Metz, stretching from the Saar to the Meurthe rivers.

Stopping at the reconstructed Roman road near Ottweiler, Saarland, and thinking how the area must have looked when it was settled by the Celtic Mediomatrici 2000 years ago. You can still follow the via‘s arrow-straight course from Strassburg to Trier (it is a footpath now) 🏛️
