I think that the sentiments were always bubbling underneath the surface in some quarters, but a complex confluence of events has enabled them. 9/11, 7/7, the war in Iraq/ Afghanistan, the Global financial crisis, austerity, Brexit and even the pandemic (somehow). They all now just feel emboldened.
