I met Matt when I stumbled across Horror Writers Chat one Wednesday. He was so welcoming.
Later, when I got to guest host, Matt reminded me to “just enjoy it” and "we've got a good crowd here” - he was so right.

We didn’t talk a lot, but I remember feeling he was a safe space to talk about mental health and what it means to be a survivor.
I remember he liked Greece, and Doctor Who. Mostly that he was a kind, warm, welcoming person to all.

I'm a wreck. I watched Matt's funeral. It was so perfect for him.
I laughed, I cried. And I laugh-cried when the Doctor Who theme came on at the end - that was so Matt!!

Matt was a load-bearing member of the horror community and was everything that one should be - kind, supportive and welcoming. He will be missed and we will build on his legacy.
I only regret that as a fellow medievalist we never got the chance to properly talk monks together.

When my sister and I last shared a scone I sent him a photo because they ALSO do it incorrectly.
