OK, so Hayabusa2 powers between asteroids using ion engines (a JAXA speciality) 🔭, but MMX is going to be using more traditional chemical propulsion 🛰️. In our #MMXTeamQQ, Imade Takane highlights why we made that choice 🧪.

This #MMXTeamQQ is by Stephan Ulamec at DLR (@dlr-en.bsky.social), who describes the biggest challenge for the Martian Moons rover, IDEFIX! Jointly developed by DLR & @cnes.fr for JAXA's MMX mission 🛰️, IDEFIX will be the first ever explorer of the surface of Phobos (and yes, it's named for the 🐶) 🔭🧪
