Unless your MPP/MNAs are floor crossing or retiring or you're losing by-elections, there really is no logical reason for calling an election when you have a decent majority already, and the PM needs more Premiers cooperating with him, not trying to trip him up for votes or their base. Imo.

The bills by QS went nowhere, but Minister Roberge's bill was adopted unanimously. The difference was that the QS MNAs swore the oath, took their seats and then tried to change things, but the PQ refused to swear and made a big deal about it.
