PRIVACY LESSON:

Get a used Pixel phone. Open. Destroy the Mic. Cover the camera. Get usb-c earbuds. Install GrapheneOS and deGoogle the phone. Use a real sim card. Install Signal, Protonmail/vpn, tor.

Get an old laptop w/ wired Ethernet. Run TAILS/Linux with same apps.

STFU on the open Internet.

I find it weird how elusive granular controls over notifications (at OS/mobileOS level in partic) are. theyre priced like adtech views. its really a power struggle between many private actors beholden to shareholder value and none of them partic care about our mental health or agency.

If you're making a "tiktok replacement app" and it's only available on iOS, you're doing it wrong. First thing you want is to capture the biggest audience possible. Ignoring 40% of a potential user base is a lack of product strategy, and shorts your potential to get to the traction gap.
