Does this mean by SB 79 that denser housing must be allowed at those 11 stops?
SB 79 requires cities to allow denser housing near major transit stops. Transit‑oriented development becomes an allowed use by right. Higher density and height minimums apply closest to transit. Rail and BRT stops form the top TOD tiers. Cities cannot downzone or block qualifying TOD projects. MPOs must map all TOD zones statewide. Local zoning updates are required by July 1, 2026. Codified in Government Code §§ 65912.155–65912.162.
