@pathoplexus.org now accepting MPXV genomes. I've played around with it's upload interface and it's genuinely so intuitive to use and has a lot of great error catching functionality!
Today Pathoplexus announces the inclusion of a new viral pathogen: mpox (previously known as monkeypox).
Within the context of the current mpox outbreaks and ongoing health concerns, Pathoplexus aims to support sequence sharing to improve both understanding and response.

This is a really interesting study -- ~1/3 of MPXV tests estimated to be false positive in DRC outbreak. MPXV is a DNA virus and it's very easy to pick up environmental DNA during PCR. Do we need to adjust testing protocols?

Wastewater is pretty much the only reliable source of information about current infection levels, since testing is barely being done and it’s unclear how hospitalization is counted. This is a decent source: biobot.io/data/ (though I think it’s being discontinued soon)

Apart from the humanitarian obligation to support the DRC to protect its population by providing vaccines and medical aid, this has global public health implications. A global spread of MPXV Clade I would be much more consequential compared to last years outbreak of Clade IIb.
