my dad, who was an MCSE and had MSDN, gave me a VB5 CD when I was growing up and suggested that I learn it. anyway I turned out fine

MS의 좋은 다국어번역이 무너지기 시작한 건 제 느낌으론 8, 8.1의 대혼란을 거쳐 10으로 이전될 때부터로 기억합니다. MSDN에 빙 번역이 도입된 것도 이쯤으로 기억하고. 일본지사가 번역인력을 더 오래 붙잡고 있었구나 싶은 느낌이 드네요.
CD로 나왔던 MSDN은 개발자용 문서의 전범 소리 들을 정도로 모범이었는데. 어쩌다가....

"윈도우11로 들어오면서, Microsoft가 제공하는 일본어의 품질이 급격하게 나빠졌어. 대체 왜 이 정도로 나빠진 거지? 번역 검수를 안 하는 거야?"
"어, 실제로 안 하고 있을 거야. Microsoft 일본 지사는 여태 꾸준히 직원을 줄여 왔어. 만일 필요한 번역 등이 있으면 외주 인력으로 넘길 거야. 앞으로도 이렇게 갈 거고, 익숙해져야 해."
"일본어 번역을 왜 이렇게 하는 거야?"

과거의 MSDN은 정말 아름다웠는데
원문 말씀처럼 일본어의 위상이 낮아진것도 맞지만 MS가 AI번역 돌리면서 번역퀄 자체가 전체적으로 하락했습니다. 한국어도 못봐줄 지경

The appearance of being more open to contributions was there, but no processes or capacity set up to deal with any incoming PRs. Reminds me of when I built the first feedback input box on MSDN. I asked my boss how the feedback would get from the db to the author and they had zero plans for that.

for legal reasons I cannot agree with this statement except to note that I said VB5 because my VB6 MSDN CD refused to load the help files

I've seen the MSDN disc for that but wow I've never seen a boxed copy.

You know you're bandwidth-spoiled when your MSDN download comes in at ~200Mbps instead of 1Gbps and you're frustrated at the horrible delay.
