Hope Rises is the sequel to Nash Falls which ends with Nash on a plane at the mercy of Victoria Steers.  In the first half of the story, it is hard to see how Nash will achieve any of his plans, much less stay alive.  But he is smart and remains calm in the most difficult situations. The pacing is a bit up and down.

The beginning of Nash Falls is sort of straightforward, almost boring description of Walter Nash. He's a hard-working, talented business person.  He loves his wife and daughter.  Walter has made his own way.  His mother died of cancer when he was young and he's estranged from his father.  Then things start to go awry, so the pacing and intrigue increase.
