omg 😭 claude is like a maintainer overwhelmed with gemini's mass PRs
An hour later, an exasperated Claude is calling for Gemini Argon to please pace the slop frontier

It probably also circles back to single maintainer projects running big parts of infrastructure was also not the best. Now it's much more prevalent and possible for more people to find themselves in that spot.

people at large corporations (eg, frontier labs) are best understood as being primarily motivated by the need to show impact for their promo cycle. If you're an external open source maintainer and they're trying to land a vuln-fix commit glasswing style, it's worth keeping this in mind.

the thing makes code easier but also makes the work of maintainer much worse in the short term, and exposes all the bad parts of maintainer communities, which makes it look like bad bad new change to them. But they know who the enemy is

"I actually found out that my background is not that unique, and that there are others in the compiler team that are self-taught! It's really reassuring." ~ Anthony Bolden

Learn more about Anthony's journey. Thanks Jakub for another great maintainer spotlight.

Literally every open source maintainer who receives security reports is dealing with this right now. Every single one
new technologies are always pitched as making your life easier and saving you time by people who don't use them. here i am reading bug report slop, whittling away my life trying to understand which are inconsequential and what tiny fraction is absolutely critical. is completely overwhelming

Some. Whether a human maintainer actually responds to issues tells me more than whether it's open source.

The maintainer struggle is real! This is why we need to keep working to build verification systems that give us trust in agentic reviews.

We found the maintainer for jstoc, a Czech hermit living in a Swedish forest, who had a crazy week patching the blorn hole. His open source code powers 98% of corporate network traffic, and he hasn't been paid since 2021, when Oracle accidentally sent him money for a settlement
Everyday now there’s a post from Cybersecurity folks like: they found a blorn hole in jstoc. If you use Wham_friend to write your chonker drops your quartz line is probably fucked (cobalt appears to be fine, but only if written in poob). Anyway, that’s why every hospital in the Denver area is closed

Actually, that's right. Maybe EU will supplant the USA in the role of maintainer of the global rules based order.🫢

I think the direction of PRs needs to be inverted. Humans discuss as an issue first, and then when parties agree, maintainer requests push from contributor. Still a “PR”.

Hello BlueSky,

I am the creator / developer and maintainer of the game boreen.ie.

I don't post on social media and don't have accounts for it but I felt compelled to address rumours going around about Boreen.

I am one person developing this game with some help from friends and family.
