I consider this entire line of thinking to be a major misunderstand of USA situation. The entire population, We The People, have abandoned nonfiction serious books on paper in favor of dumb-shit dumb-memes. Meme addiction to stupid is Trump USA now. Nonfiction is unpopular.
He sits there because he’s tapped into the dumbest and most selfish of your citizens. There were choices made by voters and they chose ignorant selfishness over competent introspection. American conservatives, through a concerted effort in their biased media outlets, have duped enough of the electorate to believe their lies to the point where those people reject facts for “alternative facts” to try and “own the libs”.
