Both the CBI and EEF (now MakeUK) came out clearly for Remain.
The fact that the media chose to amplify the individuals who backed Brexit (Dyson, Bamford, Martin) was the choice of the billionaire owners (as it still is now)

Both the CBI and Engineering Employers Federation (now MakeUK) were against Brexit and made statements in support of Remain.

Analysis by 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗨𝗞 found UK manufacturers face a disproportionate business rates bill because they often have large factory floors!
-> For example, factories accounted for a 𝟭/𝟱 of England and Wales’s property by rateable value.

Unfortunately Stephen Phipson CBE, the head of MakeUK (formerly the Engineering Employers Federation) seems to have no brain.

Good to hear Stephen Phipps of @MakeUK_ highlight how poor the apprentice levy is.
Did some work on it when it came in and clear how poor it was.
Apprentice starts now 45% down on when the levy was introduced to in trade apprentices !!
Awful policy on need of reform

MakeUK says UK low productivity not helped by having half number of workplace robots as EU manufacturing nations. True but good EU economies invest in apprenticeships paid for by firms. Here firms expect taxpayer to pay for training and don’t have compulsory apprenticeships @sarahoconnorft.ft.com

Today I met with Jim Davison and Chris Corkan from Make UK. It reminded me of my 35 year association with Make UK, and I am delighted that TWI are long-term members of Make UK and I can once again support and contribute to their important work.
