I am struggling to resist going down a rabbit hole of trying to figure out how all of the Asian games in the chess family are related to each other. Shogi seems to have been independently developed from the root concept, but makruk has a lot of similar pieces despite being 400 years newer...

(Liberty is better than restriction. For libre/free-as-in-freedom games, I recommend SuperTuxKart and SuperTux, as 2 examples, and for playing chess, shogi, janggi, makruk, makpong, Ataxx, etc., I use PyChess (the website, not the GNU app).)

Getting rid of a lot of the programs and services from tech companies has made things feel so much simpler.

Firefox is so much better than Chrome. LibreOffice provides nearly the same as Word and it's free. The iPod is where Apple peaked and I'll be dead before I pay for Apple Music or Spotify.
