🔥 Border guards-drone operators of the Phoenix unit detect enemy manpower and deliver precise strikes to the occupiers.

He has focused on decentralized leadership, a manpower audit, and military reforms while Ukraine prepares for winter battles in Donetsk Oblast.

One of the slides in the standard casualty analysis talk I give is about how RU force generation during this war has mostly been a question of price points relative to the size of the manpower willing to fight at that price, and we've finally hit the point where manpower is unaffordable.

SBU's Alpha has topped the Defense Forces unit efficiency ranking for the eighth month in a row by targets hit and manpower destroyed. In October its special forces eliminated almost 11,000 occupiers and hit 4,883 drones and ground robots, plus one Iskander missile system.

I actually do kind of wonder if Ukraine has been sapping a lot of Russian influence money/manpower

The really fucked up thing is how they used the mobiks who, contrary to popular imagination, were an actually quite high quality manpower pool (prior training and experience, significantly younger at the median than the volunteers).

Data centers never required much manpower. AI is no different, just scaled up.

I’m not sure how much this is being talked about on here, I haven’t checked, but beneath the (deserved) mass celebrations is a, for Dems, sad thought, imo reality:

They would have won the Florida governor and senate races if Dems had put the money and manpower in. They didn’t. They could have had…

They also cost us more in funds and manpower to help overcome them.

I...I don't think you have a good understanding of the war. The Russians are not the Soviets, they don't have the same manpower availability. That's why there's a major labor shortage in Russia. Ukraine hasn't even introduced mobilization for under 25 year olds.
November 7, 2026 at 3:04 AM
Some of this can be compensated for by the fairly strong pattern I've seen in the KIA data of spare manpower clearly being stripped out of, e.g., HQ or artillery brigades and attached to the maneuver brigades as assault companies. But that's a temporary measure.

Wildwood is a 10/10 and I don’t think I’ve seen a film with as much collective artistic manpower since maybe LOTR: Return of the King

Russia is losing manpower on a massive scale.

Ukraine reports 2,440 Russian personnel losses in one day. The SBS separately reports 750. As winter approaches, Ukraine is making Russia's efforts to consolidate positions increasingly costly.

30,000 in October against 7,511 in January. The curve is the story: ground robots are moving from novelty to doctrine, and logistics plus medevac is exactly where a manpower-constrained army needs them most.
⚡️️ Ukraine's ground drones complete over 30,000 missions in record month for robot warfare.

The October mission count, which includes logistics and evacuation missions, is over four times higher than the 7,511 missions recorded in January 2026.

Obviously I'd love for Putin to be running dry on manpower, but Russia's a big country. Labor constrained now, with bad demographics, but my instinct still trends towards 'lots of ruin in a nation,' although perhaps the political will to do another round of mobilization is spent.

US Lend Lease to the Soviets in the supporting industry and manpower just isn't talked about because, frankly, it isn't sexy.
November 7, 2026 at 5:12 PM
They’re sustaining the force by shunting all manpower now into replacing losses instead of expanding the force like they were before and also pushing what we would consider combat ineffective people to assault again. So they are but they’re now destroying the future structure of the VSRF to do it

Ukrainians are not constantly conducting major probing attacks using massed manpower/infiltration attempts as much as Russia does. So, as much as I hate to use this metric, but the cost for Ukraine to inflict a casualty on the Russians is currently sustainable enough for the Ukrainians.

Deferments were the last legal shield for students, and now the recruiters are tearing it up. Moscow's manpower pool is so thin it has to reach into lecture halls. The cash bonuses stopped working, so force is the next tool.

Something not at all helped by the fact that RU has already basically drained of the prisons of anyone physically viable and willing to fight, so you're dependent on the cheap manpower pool from the criminal justice system being "service in lieu of prosecution" types, which is a more limited stream.

Sombron is more like Bezos. Uses others as disposable manpower.
