MACHAN, on the edge of Gillan village, near Manaccan on the Lizard peninsula was built in the 1930s for a man who was a wholesale meat merchant and used in WW2 to accomodate evacuated children...old b&w postcard shows it had a few less curvy bits then

Now I'm not so sure about the meat merchant bit because a newspaper story about a fire at Machan in 1937 ( when it was 5 years old) mentions the owner, Mr Meates, being rescued !
The story about evacuated children in WW2 came from a Facebook post by an ex-evacuee.More recently a hotel/ restaurant
