DAY 13: 2,064. Tackled another chapter, exploring some new locals, finding some not-so-fun dangers. It’s all going well!

The issue with going fast was it wasn’t often in line with going carefully. For just a moment in time, Cal felt the slime of a tentacle brush his ear, and he screamed. It was a scream not unlike that of when he was a child and Uncle Devro told ghost stories in the woods. It was a scream that he would have been truly and fully ashamed of (high-pitched, filled with terror, reminiscent of a child) had it been any other situation.

DAY 10: 1,187. Slow going as the outline grows vaguer and now I need to get to Point B without it just being a joyride. So it's taking a bit more thinking each session to figure out what's happening in the chapter.

DAY 9: 2,771. Heck yeah! Great night. I was energized with a chapter I was really looking forward to, and blew through it quickly. Chapter 6 is complete, and I am excited for this scene to reach readers some day!

“What?” “The moss, did you notice it’s wrong?” Cal pointed to the moss on a particularly large rock. It grew on the west face, drying out in the sun. Rorai stared at the moss, then back at Cal. “What’s wrong with it?” “Are you serious?” Cal walked over to the rock, crouching in front of it and staring at the moss. “Normally, moss grows to the north, and usually in ways to avoid the sun. But here, this moss specifically grew to reach the sun. Every evening it will bake, and most moss thrives in the dark and moist spaces.” He reached out and touched the moss, gloves on of course. “I wonder if it’s like the animals, somehow created to act differently than…”

DAY 8: 1,023. Slow day, interrupted by a Vivi who didn’t want to sleep. But I wrapped chapter 5, so let it sit there as a good spot to leave it. Very excited about next session, as I’ll be able to write a scene I’ve been looking forward to!

Cracked 10k though!

“Are you okay?” Cal asked. Rorai’s eyes snapped open, and he held the fury back with every restraint. “I’m stuck on this abyssal nightmare with an idiot for company. What do you think?”

DAY 6: 2,528. A successful day despite a minor interruption by the little munchkin! (Baby cuddles, and good word count? Now that's a success!) Another chapter knocked out, getting into the flow of things, and loving the seething hatred flowing between these two boys.

“Here, I brought enough for you too.” Cal tossed one of the fruits to the bounty hunter who caught it. Then stared at it. “Where did you get this?” “It grows in some of the trees nearby.” “And how do you know it’s even safe to eat?” “I saw an animal eat it.” “An animal that is native to this planet. That doesn’t mean it’s safe to eat for us.” Cal shrugged, took a bite. Or tried to. The skin was tough and fuzzy, but with a little extra effort, his teeth broke through, and the juicy insides spewed out. Like popping a packet of nutrition paste. Or a zit. He preferred focusing on the former one. “Tastes fine to me,” he said as it mushed around his mouth, teeth cracking against hard seeds. “Besides, it’s this or starve.” Rorai set the fruit to one side and pulled out a nutrition packet from his sack, which was still somehow (mostly) in one piece. None of the weapons within were, though. “Not for me.”

DAY 5: 0! OH NO!

It was D&D day and it went late, one of the planned days I probably wouldn't get work done. But it does mean I'm officially behind! Gonna have to work hard to catch back up.

DAY 4: 1,276. This was an expected low count day as I had bowling, so very happy with it. Finished up chapter 3, and I like the direction of the story.

DAY 3: 1,273. It was a rough one. Vivi woke up mid writing session and didn't go back down until midnight. Hopefully I can make up some lost ground in the coming days!

“This is all your fault, you know?” Rorai closed his eyes, calming his breathing. The swell of his emotions battled against the net that contained them. Purely out of habit, he personally didn’t care if this moron felt every iota of his annoyance and anger. But he didn’t deserve that attachment to him either, so he held it. And he ignored the babbling idiot.
