The Joint Webinars on Fisheries Bycatch continue to bring together projects including REDUCE, @marinebeacon.bsky.social, ECO-CATCH, MarineGuardian, Life Prometheus, and SEA4Future to share knowledge, tools and approaches for reducing bycatch and supporting more sustainable fisheries. [5/5]

The full-day workshop will feature interactive sessions and presentations showcasing collaboration with #fishers in ongoing #bycatch projects including CIBBRiNA, @marinebeacon.bsky.social, REDUCE, MarineGuardian and ECO-CATCH. [2/3]

In the last webinar on #FisheriesBycatch we learned about the work being carried out by Catchwise #MarineGuardian with AI to reduce bycatch and improve fishing efficiency, through a decision support tool for skippers built on live fishing activity, historical catch data and oceanographic conditions

By doing so, the aim is to reduce fuel consumption by finding the wanted species faster, and increasing the precision in the fisheries.
The talk will contain a presentation of the Catchwise DSS platform, as well as delving deeper into the work in the MarineGuardian project.

In the MarineGuardian project, Catchwise is developing an AI-driven decision support system together with SINTEF to give estimates to fishermen about likely catch composition and risk of unwanted species.
