I admit, it's not everyone's cup of tea... but if your career (or life) depended on being able to hit 80% of the time; when off the flat range in the shit you'll shoot 20% lower accuracy on average...

What’s funny is that there are plenty of examples in correspondence and diaries during the CW of soldiers firing independently, and not only when on a skirmish line or fighting from behind prepared defenses. Many CS units prided themselves on the marksmanship of their men (and for good reason).
