One of the most beautiful lemurs is the Silky Sifaka. They live in the rainforests of northeastern #Madagascar. Marojejy National Park, pictured here, has hut to hut hiking. Hire a simpona tracker to ensure you see silkies, often seen between camps 2 and 3!

Almost 40 years old - the brochure for the 1988 trip to Marojejy in Madagascar which we (5 students - later joined by Frank Hawkins & Joanna Durbin) put together to send to various charitable trusts hoping for funds. I think we mailed ~1000 out: we received many generous donations in cash & kind

I delivered my 2026 book, MASSIF, last week. An SF adventure about god-like mountain ranges travelling in interstellar space and the humans who go with them, specifically the small crew of a corvette. I have no clue what I was aiming for, maybe a combo of Nicholas Monsarrat & Arthur C. Clarke 😀

Meet Gephyromantis ampondo—one of four #newspecies of #frog that my colleagues and I described in a paper published this week in the journal Spixiana. We discovered this species in 2016 in Marojejy in the northeast of #Madagascar. Full paper: pfeil-verlag.de/wp-content/u...

Love hiking? Marojejy National Park offers wonderful hut-to-hut hiking. Cabins are built and maintained by the Lemur Conservation Foundation. The views are stunning. See silky sifakas, ring-tailed vontsira, and many more species!

Madagascar is a biodiversity hotspot with high endemism and ancient phylogenetic diversity. We here report the discovery of Osmooka aphana gen. nov., sp. nov. from Marojejy National Park. Phylogenomic analyses place Osmooka as sister to the Australian Paraplectanoides Keyserling, 1886 and this doublet is sister to Nephilidae Simon, 1894. When proposed, Paraplectanoididae Kuntner, Coddington, Agnarsson & Bond, 2023 was exclusively Australian and monogeneric, but was predicted to contain additional, undescribed taxa.

IT'S SO #FUZZY!!

What a claim. To be the "rarest mammal on earth."

I thought that was me but whatever I guess..... 🤣

Seriously, we're losing so many #species everyday due to the society we've built. We need something better. Now.
