Today marks Martinmas, or the Feast of St Martin. In weather folklore, warm weather on St Martin’s Day means we’ll have a harsh winter. By contrast, a wintry day on Martinmas means a mild Christmas. Here in Newcastle it's sunny, but only 7°C, so I don't think it's either!

we ate the ones that looked the most like combadges! these are smitten kitchen's crescent jam and cheese cookies which i made with homemade raspberry jam brian made last spring from raspberries we grew!
