November is #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth, and today I introduced my students to #MaryGoldaRoss (1908-2008) of the #Cherokee Nation! Here's the Smithsonian's article about her: airandspace.si.edu/stories/edit...

This painting, "Ad Astra Per Astra," depicts Cherokee mathematician and engineer Mary Golda Ross. It hangs in the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C. Google honored Mary Golda Ross with one of its famed Google Doodles on the 110th anniversary of her birth in 2018. In 2019, the U.S. Mint issued new Sacajawea dollar coins that honored Mary Golda Ross on the reverse side.
