#MechCommander
My dark secret. I never connected with MechWarrior 3, played the demo and just could not enjoy it. Skipped it and finally came back with MechCommander games and MechWarrior 4.

Unsure about Mad Professor Mariarti. I was too young to really get it (not that it seems that good anyway) but I did appreciate that it has a TARDIS hidden in it.

Those two equally. I swear, it is a coincidence that they are in the same franchise.
I first played them both when I was 8, in bootleg form with butchered translations, and did not quite realize that they were

The Lead Engineer of Wing Commander 3 was the Lead Engineer of MechCommander.

its a heavily historied tabletop wargame franchise (the ip itself is older than warhammer :3), thats spawned a number of spinoffs including the mechwarrior, mechcommander, and mechassault series of video games

Hey #battletech , #mechwarrior, and #mechcommander fans, if you were going to pick 16 mechs, 4 from each weight class, what would they be?

Also special shout out to Battletech's answer to "Never enough Dakka": The Bane. Those are 10 mech-sized sniper miniguns, 5 on each arm.

Also spotting the MADIIC's brother, the Warhammer IIC, MechCommander 2's boy Blood Asp, and the mini Amaris' Folly, Stone Rhino.

DID YOU KNOW? Mike Pondsmith, the creator of the Cyberpunk ttrpg world, has a role in the videogame MechCommander 2 as the character "Steel"?

Bring back MechCommander that game ruled

BIRD DOG I think. It offers a lot of mission variety, and a lot of chained missions. Just like Mechcommander. And the whole "soften up hard targets for the main invasion" really fits with the MW5 design and gameplay.

The gorgeous classic Raven in its MechCommander design by Alan Yeoh aka MekaRamen

like the sound effects are so good at bringing you in, plus the score

I've only played MW 3, 4/Mercenaries and MC 2. tried Battletech and immediately wtf no thanks this is nothing like Mechcommander. thank god for good consumer law here in Aus so refunded on Steam

I haven't played anything but the Mechwarrior or Mechcommander games so not going to spoil the comments, but it's the feeling of being in this enormous hunk of metal crunching through undergrowth, on snow and just annihilating everything you want

.. until other ones show up!
Okay, I have a question for the BattleTech players.

What is your single favorite thing about the games?

Is it the lore, the battle, the rpg elements, the setting, what do you LOVE about it?

I need to install MechCommander on my newest laptop. I keep forgetting to.

And, lastly (at least for now), are my OC merc company, the New Dallas Rangers. This paint scheme is based off the colors I chose when I played MechCommander 2 for the first time.

Here's Mechcommander 2 and Warcraft 3 running on a brand new computer.

MC2 required some hardware emulation and cracking the disc, but it works.

Warcraft 3 runs perfectly, except for the silence during the cutscenes.

Ils ne sont pas en train d’en faire un nouveau? (Et puis le Battletech de HBS était il y a pas si longtemps)

(Bon sang, je voudrais tellement un remaster des deux MechCommander)

I remember playing Fallout Tactics and MechCommander and loving them before ever playing any of their "main" games.

just because @legalminimum.bsky.social liked this I'm going to point out that Sony and Nintendo have NOTHING as good as Microsoft's extremely friendly support for modders making Halo projects or releasing the MechCommander 2 source code and we should be pushing them to do that kind of thing too
You can be both mad at Microsoft for firing workers to bolster AI numbers AND note that Microsoft is leagues ahead of Sony and Nintendo when it comes to pro-consumer features.

In fact I was a little disappointed by the original Game.

In MechCommander you could interact with buildings - capture/use turrets, sensors, doors etc.; that opened different tactical ways to solve missions. BTA droppend that. Only fighting and brute forcing.

Mainly playing some games I loved that are a bit of a task to get running on Windows 10/11 (MechWarrior 3, Starsiege). I'm also trying out Tonic Trouble for a pal and playing around with other games like MechCommander. In general it's just really cool having a hardware emulator like this exist now.

Got 86box up and running and getting a blast from the past with stuff like this lol. Frogger 2 and MechCommander Gold run pretty well!
