This film made me pretty sad. It started full of warm, wide shots, creating an early theme of unity, but the underlying tension, shown by the harsh lighting and tight close-ups, reveals the community breaking apart-it is a fragile environment. The final violence is devastating.

After watching the film, my emotional reaction was a feeling of understanding in Lee's perspective of racism and its political climate. Lee's use of camera angles and color invoked this reaction through its illustration of a vibrant community being destroyed by racial division.

My reaction watching Do the Right Thing was frustration and anger. Lee uses tight close-ups, harsh reds/oranges to show heat and tension, “Fight the Power” to sustain anger, and chaotic editing at the climax to make violence feel inevitable rather than sudden. (Closeups often)

The film throughout made me uncomfortable because everyone stereotyped each other & used micro aggressions that then turned into full out violence. For example, the scenes where characters were on screen individually & spewed slurs/stereotypes at each other was interesting.

In “Do The Right Thing”, the entire film made me feel weirdly personal and for me was an emotional rollercoaster. The vibrancy of the shots made me feel the intensity that much more. The film that left me with more questions, especially the last scene with Sal being open ended.

My reaction to Do the Right Thing was frustration due to rising conflict that was unavoidable since there was the increasing tension between the characters. The director the tilting camera work served to make the scene to feel uneasiness. The buildup caused the death of Raheem. #Media180LabD07Fall25

I agree that the minorities and the people who don’t get enough representation are sometimes faced with people who have prefixed judgments and are unwilling to be open minded because of their preconceived fixed biases and racism. This is not fair and sad. #Media180LabD07Fall25

I agree because it also made me upset as well. The lack of representation really emphasized how minorities are treated in places even as diverse as New York City. This film was demonstrating realism of the unjust society we live in. #Media180LabD07Fall25

My reaction was anger and sadness. Sal’s refusal to show Black celebrities on his wall show racism and no representation. Close up in heated arguments, fast cuts, and “Fight the Power” intensified emotions, making the film’s message about the racial tension powerful and clear. #Media180LabD07Fall25

Watching the film was uncomfortable. Raheem endlessly blasting music and the bickering portrayed stereotypes about minority neighborhoods. The film also shows how racial tension builds from having harmful biases about others, with close-up heated shots making viewing uneasy. #Media180LabD07Fall25

#Media180LabD07Fall25 After watching Do The Right Thing and reading through some of my classmates comments, I agree that the main feelings I was left with at the end of the movie were frustration and anger. This was my second time watching it and it wasn't any easier to watch this time.

Do the Right Thing left me tense and angry. The hot colors, tilted angles, and nonstop “Fight the Power” made the street feel ready to explode. Raheem’s death and the sudden silence after made the injustice hit even harder.

After watching this film, my instant feeling was anger. The director portrayed the hardships and stereotypes that black people face through music, along with the circumstances that led them to turn to violence as a way to defend themselves, which led to an unfortunate outcome.

After watching the film “Do the Right Thing” (1989), I was immediately filled with anger, particularly because of what happened to Raheem. His music was his voice, and Sal destroyed it. The close-ups and warm lighting added to the feeling of realness.

Do the Right Thing shows underlying tension of racism and how violence spiral. Many of the townspeople have preconceived biases about other people based on race, which is a source of frustration. Dutch angles and close ups are shown to signify the growing uneasy tension rising. #Media180LabD07Fall25

How we, yes we, are posted up when the FBI come around Hunter arresting those who participated in the freak-offs, and you lowkey knew there were kids there but just went along with it so Diddy could consider you for a position as a producing assistant.

Watching "Do the Right Thing" (1989) made me feel unease and frustration, simply because that's also what the other characters were feeling as well. Every interaction felt like trouble, with the usage of close camera work, and arguments were constantly firing off left and right #Media180LabD07Fall25

I felt the same way. The sudden escalation made the tension feel consistent. Those close ups really made me apart of the conflict, and the heavy lighting makes every moment feel even more intense and uncomfortable.
