If you cannot make money on the most entertaining animation of the medium's entire history you are probably very bad at your job.

Yeah this is the part that sucks. Part of being a cartoonist is accepting the medium’s very racist past
The history of the "white gloves" in cartoons. As usual the answer is racism.

Anyway I maintain that the idea of prestige TV is fundamentally mistaken and the medium’s ideal form is the sitcom

The Medium’s (haunted) house.

Every day I think about how people who don’t make games utterly hijacked the videogame industry and then told everyone who makes games that the videogame industry no longer needs them.

For all my rumination, I still can’t quite convey the scale and parasitic vileness of the medium’s appropriation.

*deep breath* i have finished and reviewed Pathologic 3.

"Not only does the Town-on-Gorkhon still make for one of the medium's most transportive settings, but Daniil Dankovsky emerges as one of the medium's richest protagonists."

David Lynch being in the #Emmys in memoriam broke something in me. He embodies so much of the medium’s potential that it’s almost impossible to think about him in the past tense.

Krazy Kat creator George Herriman, one of the great geniuses of cartooning who showed the medium’s literary potential, was born on August 22, 1880.

gooseworx deserves so much fucking better

it should be just awesome that we have one of our own creating the most popular indie cartoon during the medium's renaissance

"12 Angry Men is great art but weak cinema. camera setups mostly static, no Vertigo zooms, few dollies. I don't think any of the actors are Method. not the best foot to put forward if you're trying to convince people of the medium's validity."

THIS IS WHAT YOU FUCKERS SOUND LIKE

Independent animation will only flourish as a true alternative to the big industry studios if the workers have a big and meaningful voice in how it is run. Unions are crucial for the entire medium's future.

What benefit is there to Crunchyroll to cut off libraries? In this political climate, it's a pretty awful PR choice and yet another way of booting the medium's target demo.

Anime fans start young and they don't have credit cards.

I'm saying outrage merchants don't do art criticism, that meaningful criticism has been defunded and marginalized across pretty much every artform by attacks on publications and academia alike, and the people/platforms driving the biggest conversations now do not hold the medium's interests at heart
@errant-signal.com care to expound? Are you arguing that outrage merchants are injecting politics into art to the exclusion of other modes of art criticism?
I can't escape the conclusion that we've ceded the entire public discourse about art to outrage merchants and algorithms and this is the result. Massive audiences addicted to passively consuming frictionless media while eagerly waiting to be told which title it's en vogue to hate next.

Been seeing a lot more vtubing models and clips that showcase the medium realizing its long dormant potential. More unique styles, interactive animations, and new frontiers.

I believe 2026 will be a highlight year in realizing the medium's potential.

Dept. of Feeling Seen: Speaking for those of us who labored on the Baltimore drama mentioned, this -- more than any arbitrary listing -- is gratifying. That said, looking around at our republic and society today, I would prefer to be entirely ungratified.
Opinion | The Four TV Shows That Heralded America’s Fall
Four TV shows, now acknowledged as the medium’s high point, each cannily predicted the ways in which America would start to crack apart.

Apropos of nothing in particular, but there are not 10 performances in the medium's history that I would take over Shirley MacLaine's performance in "The Apartment."

the death of arcade game design sensibilities, the emphasis on brands over people in terms of creative attribution, poor preservation in the industry, and a lack of respect towards the medium's artistry can really all be attributed back to the compulsive desire to "complete" and "beat" a game
the point of a movie is not to be done watching it. the point of a song is not to be done listening to it. the gamers' obsession with completion as the only motivator to play a game has directly led to the medium's worst traits. "AI gaming ghost" is a reflection of the lack of willingness to engage
Sony has patented an AI gaming ghost that will play PlayStation games for you when you get stuck www.eurogamer.net/sony-has-pat...
