And ugh oh my god the farm level in Slender is… slow. It is honestly probably my favorite level, but my big gripe with it is the medtroidvania-esque-ness of it: getting key items to back track far and open the next area. It just takes awhile and those backtracking parts aren’t scary or tense.

Super Metroid and Symphony of the Night are top tier retro gaming. I actually just watched a good portion of a playthrough of Viewtiful Joe last night 'cause I really want to lean in those medtroidvania/explorarion/RPG platformer vibes, but with some more 3D more like VJ.

There were so many people who hated on this game before release either because it was 2D or a certain group complaining about the design of the main character and its a genuinely incredible Medtroidvania with top-tier platforming and combat.

Still can't believe THAT Pac-Man is an actual medtroidvania game.

Wow, the art style looked so similar to the game boy Zelda games that I didn’t even consider it could be more of a medtroidvania 😦👀👀

It doesn’t get nearly enough credit for how innovative it was and for helping to create the medtroidvania genre. All because of a cliff tornado 😹. It’s a shame that this and Zelda II aren’t held in higher regard.
