Day 3 brings us CURSE, an early mega drive shooter from your friends at Micronet, known for its extremely cool cover art and for not being a very good video game.

Next up is Bare Knuckle II. I'm not a big fan of belt scrolling beat-them-ups, but I am a big fan of Yuzo Koshiro and cool aesthetics.

Namcot's 1990 home port of their 1989 System 2 arcade shooter, Phelios. It's no Dragon Saber but it's pretty dang good imo.

I like Tecnosoft's Thunder Force III so much I framed an old promotional retail release poster for it in our living room.

Star Cruiser is an exceedingly ambitious and complex space sim that is trying to put a whole-ass Amiga style space sim onto the Mega Drive, and kinda successfully? Wish I could read it though lol.

Sega's mega drive port of Falcom's PC-88 action RPG masterpiece, and contender for the title of best logo in all of video games, SORCERIAN. Absolutely criminal that we didn't get this localized tbh.

We're back in the buttercups again with Magical Tarurūto-kun, a manga-licensed platformer from your friends at Game Freak! It's... Okay.

This is the MD port of Toaplan's classic arcade shooter Twin Hawk, as commissioned by Taito.

Day 6
Darwin 4081, the serviceable home port of the second entry in Data East's string of games using a system that evolved and transforms the player's ship. It's... Fine? A perfectly cromulent shooter. A little low tech and janky, but it's also early for the hardware.

I have a lot of affection for Sega's earliest arcade racing efforts like Turbo and Monaco GP.
Significantly less so, perhaps, for their first-person 16-bit entries like Super Monaco GP, but hey, options were much more limited in those days.

The MD port of Toaplan's Hellfire is much like the other versions, in that I want to like it much more than I do. The weapon cycling just feels too clumsy, and frankly Zero Wing is a better attempt at a hori STG imo.
