So you can’t defeat cryptocurrency, memestocks, sports gambling, or options trading among the public without defeating the root causes: spiraling out of control increases in real cost of housing, education, etc. The public takes these risks because the traditional route to success is closing fast.

There is a lot of hate for sports gambling, cryptocurrency, options trading, and memestocks. But their popularity exposes a difficult truth: every generation it becomes harder for the average American to make it, and because of this system failure people are going to take extreme risks.

The popularity of crypto, memestocks, and sports gambling is because the average person sees the traditional route to American success as a dead end. What worked in previous generations no longer works. If they do it they are probably going to lose. People aren’t stupid. They know the risks.

I think these genuinely repellent personalities can only "thrive" on the same principle that drives things like memestocks, where a motivated group of highly ideological freaks floods the zone to make it appear like they have broad consensus
