Great to catch up with Councillor Andrew Stringer and residents in Mendlesham.

And I really enjoyed visiting Mendlesham Primary School and seeing such engaged children, the impressive SEND unit and a brilliant whole class cornett lesson!

We were out and about recording a new podcast today. It was a lovely day, and we had time to call in and pay our respects at the 34th BG Memorial in Mendlesham. It's a beautifully maintained memorial relocated from the roadside to the village churchyard.

Report of a big cat sighting - black panther-like creature with long black turned up tail seem crossing the road just outside the southern edge of Mendlesham, #Suffolk in 2017. The same witness reported her brother was chased into the family home in Essex by a "huge black dog" many years ago.

I got my Tudor drum out yesterday for Armada filming in Mendlesham, Suffolk...

I took part with the Suffolk Free Company - we did some archery, musketry and pike drill too.

@sixteenthcgirl.bsky.social was a surprise 'guest', and a joy to work with!

The memorial to the 34th Bomb Group was relocated from its original exposed roadside position to the beautiful churchyard in Mendlesham. It is the perfect setting for what is, I think, an immensely evocative memorial.

Dick Whittington – Chaplin Pantos – Guest Review
Guest Review by Wendy Boother Do you like a Pantomime? Well, the people of Mendlesham do. After a successful 2024, they booked Chaplins Pantos again and this year, it was Dick Whittington. It’s a traditional panto, aimed at primary school children, with a loose folk tale strung together with songs, dancing and shenanigans that prompt a reaction, delighting the audience every few minutes. It was lovely to see the children fully engaged and how well the cast ad-libbed with them in return.  Patric Schwaab, who played Captain Blood, was a great ‘baddie’ who attracted boo’s and hisses and managed to retrieve his dropped hat with aplomb (or was that well scripted?) B, who played Dick himself, was the perfect lead with a clear voice and the right mix of earnest planning and distracted fun.
