Any physician who has cared for a child with meningococcal meningitis is appalled that the meningococcal vaccine will no longer be recommended by the CDC. It is a horrible and preventable illness and kills and maims very quickly. 😢

It is untrue that you can't vaccinate against bacteria. Leaving aside tetanus and diphtheria, since we really only vaccinate against their toxins - pertussis, meningococcal acwy, pneumococcus, typhoid and tuberculosis are all very successful bacterial vaccines.

WHO's old page clearly states aerosol as the primary mode of transmission for Meningococcal meningitis.

Yes Pierre. Vaccines being so bad. Who can forget polio, smallpox, diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), polio, Haemophilus influenzae type B (Hib), rotavirus, hepatitis B, measles, mumps, rubella, chickenpox, pneumococcal and meningococcal diseases. Are those mandates evil too?

Meningococcal C vaccine 1999 a start to reduce the annual deaths from Meningococcal septicaemia.

Further Meningococcal types became available later.

One since retirement. HPV vaccination is revolutionising - cervical cancer disappearing for those vaccinated. Also reducing oropharangeal cancer.
