If only there was a federal agency that could stop monopolizing media mergers.
FCC Commissioner Anna Gomez on Paramount-Warner Bros merger:

“This settlement appears to pave the way for yet another massive media consolidation deal that could raise prices for consumers, reduce content diversity, and weaken editorial independence”

Self censorship in the name of corporate mergers is still censorship
This is a massive, history making abuse of your power. It will define your legacy and one day you will come to regret punishing free speech and trying to destroy democracy.

Tbh, good advice regardless of mergers and media consolidations. Support the weird, small art made by real people.
The best way to fight back against the Paramount/Warner Brothers merger is to support independent artists, journalists, writers, filmmakers, musicians and everyone else who has been walking a very hard path to putting things out into the world.

“1 family. 2 news networks. And a president who treats mergers like loyalty tests with no regard for the public.”
February 28, 2026 at 4:03 AM
The president should not be involved with these mergers. Media just presents it as normal behavior.

Because congress is failing in its duty to stop giant mergers.

Hello if I wanted my job to be boring all the time I would have gone into mergers and acquisitions.
September 21, 2026 at 2:38 PM
I mean, mergers are financial decisions
July 17, 2025 at 11:33 PM
I would like to point out that mergers with Warner Bros. seldom work out well for the company buying them...

apocalyptic media mergers are okay but delightful mountain lions are not. whatever, california

His name is Harold
He's in mergers and acquisitions now (or at least his trainer is)

Trump’s DOJ waved through the Redfin-Rocket and Compass-Anywhere real estate mergers.

Now Redfin and Compass are squeezing the housing market.

That’s how big mergers hurt consumers:
gatekeeping listings, driving out smaller brokers, and increasing housing costs.

Remember when Lina Khan blocked the Kroger/Albertsons merger, which would've sent grocery prices skyrocketing?

Trump’s new FTC pick vowed to end the “war on mergers.”

And wouldn’t you know it, Trump is now walking back his promise to lower grocery prices.

Funny how that works.
'A Gift to the Oligarchs': Trump Pick to Replace Lina Khan Vowed to End 'War on Mergers' | Common Dreams
Andrew Ferguson, President-elect Donald Trump's pick to lead the Federal Trade Commission vowed in his pitch to lead the key agency that he would end current chair Lina Khan's "war on mergers."

they want approval for mergers
October 28, 2025 at 10:54 AM
All media mergers end up hurting writers, actors, directors, and everyone else who works in the industry. Executives, assistants, caterers, teamsters, everyone. Fewer companies means fewer jobs, period.
December 5, 2025 at 5:08 AM
We really need to stop approving all these mergers.
March 25, 2025 at 5:25 AM
First Colbert, now Kimmel.

Last-minute settlements, secret side deals, multi-billion dollar mergers pending Donald Trump's approval.

Trump silencing free speech stifles our democracy. It sure looks like giant media companies are enabling his authoritarianism.
September 18, 2025 at 2:23 AM
Stop with these mergers. I beg of you.
WSJ: Paramount Skydance is preparing a majority cash bid for Warner Bros. Discovery that is backed by the Ellison family.

The bid will be for the entire company, including its cable networks and movie studio

Trump: "Deputy First Minister of Northern Ireland, and you get along so well. I don't know if I should be promoting mergers. I love mergers but we're gonna get in a little trouble. We're gonna get in more trouble with that."

Weiser: Antitrust laws aren’t enforced only by the federal government — they’re also enforced by state attorneys general. So whatever corrupt dealings or presidential whims might occur, we still have the authority to review mergers
February 22, 2026 at 5:01 AM
Kind of like mergers between big companies needed some moral authority in the moment…oh well.

Way too many premature assertions about mergers and what it means for AEW. Chill TF out
September 21, 2026 at 8:55 PM
THISSSSSSS and also he didn’t do mergers and acquisitions
Luxon's "I was out there building a kick-arse business" just galls me so much.

Bro you were employed by a couple of gigantic inefficient enterprises. You did not build a pie shop or a landscaping business. You did not build a tech startup.
