Were dueting GHOWs in (near) my backyard very early this morning—easily recognizable—but had to turn on phone to record VERY loud, repeated “squawk,” which I did not recognize at all! MerlinID said GHOW! 🤯 (Possibly juvenile, possibly female)

I was listening to bird calls on MerlinID.
I attracted a lonely "Eastern Wood Pewee" (Contopus virens) to my very accommodating front sanctuary.
I felt the splitting to the core of empathy for a lonely being.
