Someone should do a starter pack for all the historian artists here on bluesky.

Good to see more Mesoamericanists and folks interested in Mesoamerican archaeology, ethnohistory, etc. on here. Check out these two starter packs if you're interested:

When my fellow Romanist grad students insisted that we rewatch "I, Claudius" (something our Mesoamericanists were lovely about putting up with), one of them noticed that in Augustus's palace, there was a bust of Septimius Severus, who wouldn't become emperor for about another 200 years.
BlueSky Historians - what’s the most ahistorical thing you have ever seen in a film/TV show which was meant to be historical?

(For me it has to be the use of Zadok the Priest playing during the Papal coronation of Rodrigo Borgia - Alexander VI - in The Borgias. 235 years before it was composed.)

Good to see Bluesky open but I'm wondering if it missed the window—historians on here have been great but still not seeing too many archaeologists or Mesoamericanists.
Optimistic for this platform but seeing fewer archaeologists than I have elsewhere—anyone have good recommendations for feeds on archaeology and/or cultural heritage? Mesoamerica/Mexico 🇲🇽 are especially welcome.

Called the Gulf Coast as an archaeological region by Mesoamericanists. These are Remojadas style figures from the Mexican state of Veracruz on the Gulf Coast.

An article worth your valuable time.

I wish I was inclined to write a book about women Mesoamericanists. Zelia Nuttall, Anne Morris, Adela Breton, Tatiana Proskourikoff, Linda Schele, Alice Le Plongeon--all fascinating individuals.

I would add that while Leon-Portilla and Maffie's work is absolutely stuff that should be looked at (Maffie even follows me on Tw itter!), some Mesoamericanists, I find often linguists in particular (EX: Bowles, who you mention), have issues with some of their interpretations, especially in...
