It’s an interesting paper and I agree with a lot of it but for me the key metapolicy issue is “Why?”

As the paper says, there is a core disconnect between strategy and policy, between existence and purpose.

For instance, what is the “purpose” of DfE?

Has the UK state really lost the ability to develop good policy? This post by @jo3hill.bsky.social of @re-state.bsky.social suggests it has.

Seems like that's a problem that needs to be tackled with some urgency?
