Amazing.

Vivek Ramaswamy took the "rare step" of submitting public testimony against a data center in Ashville, but Jake Zuckerman checked the metadata and found the testimony was actually written by anti-vaccine quack Stephanie Stock the Polio Princess.

I'm a metadata/information scientist whose main area of expertise is accessibility in data, particularly for neurodivergent folks.

I have a book that, in recent months, lost all its citation metadata on Google Scholar. It was my top-cited item! Does anyone know to whom at Cambridge University Press it would be best to address such a technical metadata query?

actually i could just add a little metadata thing that says "The user might be mad at you"

I'm honestly giddy this morning, there is a long road of hard work ahead but up and down the ballot, across the country, we did it 🌊🌊🌊

(trying this again, sorry, something weird in the photo metadata was making bluesky freak)

how can i pursue self-actualization when i still have thousands of flac files with sloppy metadata?

yeah i think im gonna keep posting on e621. but its perfectly understandable if u dont wanna post there. having that much metadata on your art makes it ripe for ai training. also their handling of gender tags is overly clinical and alienating.

im going to try to give an llm anxiety by making a harness that delivers metadata about how long the user typed and the gaps when they started and stopped typing

Mandatory metadata retention could increase the volume of information available to law enforcement, and potentially reinforce already existing patterns of overpolicing and discriminatory investigative practices.

I have built another little tool. For when I just want to remove metadata. I do not like GTK 4.0, but it works for some special cases.

How can open metadata and data-driven services be embedded in #OpenAccess agreements?

Our DFG-funded OA Datenpraxis project offers recommendations based on agreement and Crossref analyses and public feedback:

The dress is white and gold. Just look at the metadata, this didn't have to be a thing.

I have unpublished work from long long before AI, but I think people would probably just say the metadata is faked or something
I am glad I have proof of being a writer well before the tide of AI slop, I genuinely feel so bad for anyone who is up and coming or trying to break into art, people at the stage I was at 5-6 years ago when I was completely fresh and new must be going through fucking Hell right now.

I'm getting a lot of replies assuming this watermark is in the metadata or html code and would thus epuld be easy to remove. That's NOT the case. It's based on word choices and Claude's internal token stats. Only way to remove is dramatically rewriting the text (admittedly perhaps with another LLM).

A book without metadata can’t easily be found, and a book that can’t be found is hard to archive - that’s why open metadata infrastructure sits alongside publishers among our members. Because preservation starts long before the archive. #WorldPreservationDay #WDPD2026

and doing my homework now. synthid is a pixel frequency pass without metadata, while c2pa is doing actual metadata

Today, I got to write photograph descriptions like “partygoer in velvet pants” and “two people wear bedazzled costumes” including one in “glittery and metallic face paint.” I’m enjoying creating #metadata for this collection lol 😆🌈 #libraries #photography #LGBTQIA
For work, I’m creating item-level #metadata for photos in a collection on a Black queer icon, and I’m enjoying writing descriptions like: “Two friends, one wearing a long white scarf and the other a plaid shirt opened to the navel…” 😆🌈 #libraries #archives #photography #LGBTQ #LGBTQIA

It's difficult to obtain quality and controlled metadata at large scale for human RNA archives. Fiona has been working on it for two years. Here's a new release of her work.
🚀 New Metappuccino data release!

Annotations for 1 million human bulk RNA-seq samples from SRA are now freely available!

What's new?
• Improved term normalization
• Better per-field confidence scores
• 24 annotated fields: organ, disease, biopsy site, cell line, cell type & more.

Metadata is no longer “merely a supply-chain requirement”, according to new research by NielsenIQ BookData, but a “strategic asset that can improve discoverability, help readers find books and support stronger sales performance”. 👇
Rich metadata increasingly vital to book sales, NielsenIQ BookData finds
