This is the reason why we don't see Metal Tails outside of Sonic Superstars. Yes, I'm serious. He doesn't want to assist Eggman in building his latest contraption for world domination.

Some species also have "fairy" in their common name. On the whole, there's no shortage of whimsy in hummer names, ranging from the sparkly "sungems" to the badass "metaltails".

#birdoftheday #smallbirdsaturday I've been seeing a lot of hummingbirds lately, some visiting our patio, others on walks. These three are either Short Tailed Emeralds (near endemic, 2.5 inches) or Veridian Metaltails (3 inches). They were 30 feet up and at a similar ground distance, on a cloudy day.

Here is a fun size comparison. Tyrian Metaltail vs Giant Hummingbird. Both of these hummingbirds are found at high altitudes in the Andes Mountains. Tyrian Metaltails prefer shrubby areas at the edge of forest while the Giant Hummingbird is at home in open, arid scrubland.

My own take at a Metal Tails concept, always thought a propeller tail would be a fit for Tails metal counter part
