Speculation abt system dynamics - seems like the thing afflicting 'tech industry' from a design perspective is a lack of self-awareness in corporate metaorganisms - inadvertent reward hacking falls into the trap of game-designing for extrinsic motivations instead of cultivating intrinsic motivation

Still open to the possibility we’re in some kind of reality tv show for metaorganisms to get a kick out of.

Hello, Bluesky! We are the #CollaborativeResearchCentre „Origin and Function of Metaorganisms“ funded by the German Research Foundation #DFG at #KielUniversity, around 80 researchers investigate the interactions of microbial communities with multicellular hosts.

Since beginning of last year, I am a #NewPI within the @dfg.de-funded Collaborative Research Center 1182 "Origin and Function of Metaorganisms", which now also made it's way to Bluesky.

Welcome, @crc1182.bsky.social!

THERE IS ONLY THE ONE

It takes all the forms.

The metaorganisms are some of them.

Maybe? :-)

I can’t imagine the metaorganisms themselves are super-impressed, at this point.

And these belief systems often hold that there’s a relationship between the “metaorganisms” and nondual knowledge. "I Am, That I am. Tell them I Am sent you.” I’m not sure it’s been equally digested, over the millennia...
May 14, 2025 at 2:38 AM
Or maybe remembering a much larger layer of physical reality? Most human belief systems over the ages seem to involve “metaorganisms” as an important component. Doesn’t matter if they’re called Devas or The Holy People or whatever, I don’t think –– the spot they fulfill in the ontology is the same.

Wrapping up final sampling for the #ENGAGE_prin manipulative experiment! 🌊🌱🐚 Plants, lucinid clams, and sediment were exposed to a marine heatwave — it’s time to check how metaorganisms respond alone vs. in association. Incredible teamwork! 💪 Go #MarineSymbiomes! #SymbioSky #MicroSky #MarineEcology

...and more great news recently: the CRC1182 Origin and Function of Metaorganisms was renewed for a third funding phase and I will be part of it as a PI. Looking forward to the next four years of metaorganism science!

I strongly recommend reading about the discovery that microorganisms cause many forms of disease. It's a good analog for potential metaorganisms in our midst, IMHO. a.co/d/5oxiUXR

> This evidence points towards the first known case of eusociality in a marine animal

Wait, I thought salps, colonial siphonophores and briosoans also count, no? Or are these metaorganisms not considered eusocial?..

Or there’s simply another layer of the ecosystem (“metaorganisms” as I like to call them) that’s difficult for us to understand, in the way it would be tough for a tardigrade to understand a squirrel.

Highly-anomalous UFOs are absolutely real. Many, many people have seen them in unambiguous circumstances for a long time. What they are, well, other than “apparently not us” I doubt anyone knows for sure. “Metaorganisms” is my personal hypothesis, which could be a very heterogeneous category.
April 8, 2026 at 6:07 AM
It seems there may be “metaorganisms,” as I like to call them. It's a very valid hypothesis, at this point. Honestly I’m pretty comfortable with that for now, I just think the government should acknowledge the discovery (assuming there was one) instead of being so ridiculously cagey about it.

I love mantises, the babies are so cute (I took this a few years ago behind my house). 🥰 Perhaps the big ones are our caretakers, in a sense. I picture them as high-level software/Maya daemons. Metaorganisms might just be part of the ecosystem like microorganisms, locked in feedback loops with us.

I love these types of reports. There are so, so, so many, and most have never been put to print (I imagine it could be 100x the number of documented cases).

People really have these occurrences. What it means, I cannot say. Brushes with metaorganisms, maybe?
