I eventually had to just crucify one of my students for doing an AI slop presentation, as all of the gentler methods failed

From my limited ML training background, the hard part is most of the image ingestion pipelines abandoned more computational vision methods (masks, ocr, edge/boundary detection) in favor of just Freeform labeled data. So there isn’t a line in to line out link to follow

I have opinions for sure - and mixed feelings! Vibe coding lowers the bar for what is possible but I also worry about an onslaught of projects that don't understand the code and assumptions build into the methods. Happy to share our AI policy for DHPhD students if that would be useful.

I took a class in college on "computational social choices" and tbh I barely remember anything compsci related about it, it mostly was talking about the different cases in which plurality differs from ranked choice voting or other methods and using an API and mock databases to simulate those cases
