Thought about writing a postmortem for the 2026 Mets, but honestly, why bother. Good riddance to this terrible, horrible, no good, very bad season. Here's hoping the rookies are the real deal, everybody stays reasonably healthy, and we get a few lucky bounces in 2027 (or whenever). 🧡💙 #LGM #MetsSky

Baty was a pleasant surprise in that he, eventually, adapted to this Squirrel-style multi-position role. I think he & Troll will always be streaky, but useful (hey, DWright was streaky, and pretty darned useful…)

Sometimes players come up and severely underperform their minor league stats—we’ve seen it with Baty, Vientos, Mauricio. Sometimes they outperform—we’ve seen it with Thornton and Tong (especially September Tong). Rojas, Voit, Pitre, Amick and Santucci—which way will they go? #LGM #MetsSky

I think with the uncertainty of the lockout, Bichette will take the certainty of one more year at the insane AAV, then if there is a 2027 season, opts out after.
But I’ve been wrong before…
And, warts-and-all, if we can steal Ron Washington from SF, we should do it in a NY minute.

Looks like David Stearns will hold an end of season press conference on Monday at 2pm ET.
Last year's end of season press conference was when Stearns uttered the now infamous phrase "run prevention."
