Missing Elio Schaechter already. A long and eventful life, loving friends and family, and remembered more important microbiology in his 90s than I will ever know. Such a #MicrobialHero, but more to the point, a fine and kind human being. May his memory be a blessing to all.

The late Elio Schaechter was a true #MicrobialHero of mine. I'm, um, not at the top of the academic trophic pyramid in microbiology, but he ALWAYS treated me with kindness and respect. My wife Jenny painted these #LuxPortraits. I love the smiling ones. He could be such an imp!
