I'm not quite to "the internet was a mistake" levels of luddism but I do believe the following are corrupting, in order:

Obviously
- Cryptocurrency
- Algorithmic feeds
- Targeted advertising

Probably
- Media streaming
- Push notifications

Maybe
- Graphical user interfaces
- Microcomputers

Wow!!!! A friend shared these pictures with me. It's a custom hand made wire wrap Apple II in a gutted PC XT clone case!

Found on the "Retro Microcomputers, Workstations, Servers and Consoles" Facebook group.

My first ever Castlevania was The New Generation aka Vampire Killer/Bloodlines. I had microcomputers growing up so only ever saw Castlevania in occasional mentions in gaming TV shows till then.

It's still a pretty special game to me as that first experience and a damn good one too.

A fiendishly addictive fixed shooter for Apple II (and eventually other microcomputers): Jun Wada and Makoto Horai's A.E, published by Broderbund in 1982.

Hold the fire button down after launching a barrage at the surprisingly smoothly moving alien robotic manta rays, and release to detonate.

It's why there's often such a gulf of awareness and understanding from them that quite a few young folks are already into older tech, old microcomputers and coding and Pi-based tech and old web stuff and have their own circles and scenes.
