And there is some Good Microeconomics of Science out there too- I’d point to recent work from Pierre Azoulay that takes some more structural/humanistic approach for example.

As a scientist: YES YES YES.

Stop bringing poor microeconomics (looking at you Dr. Bhattacharya) into science to try to judge what innovation is using citations and limited metrics. Quant metascience will never predict long run innovation

I'm seeing a lot of schadenfreude about this because it couldn't have happened to more deserving people, then again.. Binance croaking would not, exactly, be limited in scope to the microeconomics of a couple of chumps

His papers are of that kind where you go "why didn´t I think of that?", but only he thought of that and made it simple and powerful. His Econometrica GARP paper with John Miller on GARP changed how I saw the microeconomics of prosocial behavior.

And when I say quant metascience I’m talking not about the (mostly good) humanistic study of science structures, but the Bad Microeconomics of Science stuff, including that from Jay Bhattacharya.

I have lived through many technology booms and seen how 20 companies plan and build for 10% marketshare.

This is how capitalism works. Companies do not know what their competitors are doing.

Microeconomics.

However, 20 x 10% creates oversupply.

Macroeconomics.

History repeats. Bubbles burst.
