I’m right with you - and I work in high-tech research, studying fossils by means of synchrotron microtomography. Some forms of machine-learning are genuinely useful and morally unproblematic, but generative AI is an abomination in the true sense of that word.

Self-healing materials fascinate me; it's such a sci-fi concept, yet almost in mass use. Self-healing concrete for construction would be amazing, but we aren't there yet. But it's in the works, with some really cool ideas. 🧪
