Extrapolating from history: the labor market will cannibalize mid-tier knowledge workers, burn out senior knowledge workers, then shout at colleges & govt for not making enough labor-market ready grads, then govt will blame moms for not making K-12 prepare kids for college pre-labor-market skills.
This is exactly the problem. If AI can do the work of a junior team member, it still needs to be supervised and managed—so how do you teach that?
Was at a conference dinner a while back and one guy said "The future is AI. It doesn't replace senior developers, but no more need for juniors."
To which i replied:
"Where do you think senior developers come from. Straight from the womb?"
He went quiet, then wandered off to a different huddle.

We barely read (well) now and it’s a problem. I don’t think A.I. will end reading but even mid market penetration for this mid-tech will diminish negative feedback for poor readers. So I hope I die before it all comes to a head.
Will reading become obsolete? How A.I. could transform our relationship to the written word.

Universities are in crisis, and I don’t think it’s helpful to phrase that as “exiting the market”. They’re not mid-range shoe shops, these are educational pillars in society

The people who financialized (and then destroyed) the housing market in the mid 2000s did not care about building homes. Similarly this kind of sweaty shell game makes me very suspicious of the AI sales pitch.
