Mel & I spent Labor Day kayaking at a fav state park, & had some great #nature encounters. Highlights were a milksnake, a small gartersnake, cricket frogs, & a box turtle. We found the box turtle swimming across the steam - 1st time I’ve seen one doing that in the wild!

On Monday, I found this milksnake for the 3rd time! 1st was almost 2 1/2 years ago, & the 2nd was 5 months ago.
Mel said I should name it, since we’re familiar w/ each other at this point. So, I’m calling it Mitra (“friend” in Sanskrit).
I hope to see Mitra again in the future.

Eastern Milksnake... they're beautiful little noodles. I love their colours. Mostly harmless. The have sharp teeth and can break skin if they bite you, but no worse than a minor cut.
