have to admit, if I could slip through a time warp to return to my grandparents' old farm in Millersport NY I would go there immediately & drift about like a ghost. the inhabitants of that lost place would shiver & glance about--who's there? what's this?
One of my uncles stayed on the farm until he died. He really loved farming. In the last decades of the 20th Century horse and mule farming went away, and the tractors and combines took over. A brother lives on one farm the two brothers inherited, but is a CPA for a living.

East Amherst, NY! that is so thrilling to hear. my family--grandparents' farm--was on Transit Road, Millersport, close by the bridge over the Tonawanda Creek. (the farm house was razed long ago.) no idea who lives there now. the one-room schoolhouse on Tonawanda Creek Road is also gone.
